About Don Pollo Astoria

I’m always excited to introduce people to Don Pollo Astoria, especially when they’re curious about real-deal Peruvian food served in a relaxed neighborhood setting. Located at 29-03 Broadway in Astoria, NY 11106, this spot feels like the kind of place you discover once and then keep coming back to, whether you live nearby or you’re just passing through the area. The first thing that stands out is the welcoming, no-frills vibe that lets the food do the talking, which is exactly what you want from a comfort-driven Peruvian restaurant. From the aroma alone, you can tell there’s serious care going into every dish, and that attention carries through from the kitchen to the table. Don Pollo Astoria works well for different moods too, because you can swing by for a quick bite, settle in for a casual dine-in meal, or grab takeaway when time is tight. If convenience matters, delivery and kerbside pickup are also available, making it easy to enjoy their food wherever you are. I often mention the menu because it balances hearty comfort food with lighter, healthier options, so everyone at the table finds something that fits. Small plates are great for sharing, while larger portions satisfy serious appetites without feeling overdone. Drinks are another highlight, especially if you enjoy pairing your meal with a cold beer, a classic cocktail, or a glass of wine. Happy-hour food and drinks add extra value, and there’s even coffee if you want to linger a bit longer. I like pointing out how the space attracts locals grabbing dinner after work as well as groups meeting up for relaxed evenings, and that steady buzz gives the restaurant an easygoing energy. The staff keeps things moving without rushing you, which fits the casual atmosphere and makes first-time visitors feel comfortable right away.

We went to Don Pollo and had an amazing experience. Valeria took care of us beautifully — super kind, attentive, and always checking on us. The food was delicious, well-served, and full of flavor — definitely the kind of place you want to come back to. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a true gem. We have been long time customers , and were glad to see that it was renovated. We came to the opening and are pleased to say the food is just as good, but with a more sophisticated updated look. The service is great, our waitress Valeria has been our server on several occasions and she is is always just as sweet and attentive. Highly recommended this place if you are lookinh for some good Peruvian food in Astoria.

Just visited this newly renovated gem and I’m seriously impressed! The space is clean, classy, and gives off a sleek, city-luxury vibe—definitely a level up from the previous look. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, and it was everything I hoped for—hearty, flavorful, and that same authentic Peruvian taste I’ve always loved. The Spicy Margarita hit the spot too—not too sweet, with just the right amount of kick. We started with the Ceviche Mixto—seafood was super fresh, and they kindly served the hot sauce on the side for my husband (who can’t handle the heat). A nice touch that showed great attention to detail. Overall, 10/10—delicious food, great drinks, and excellent service. Highly recommend if you're craving bold, authentic Peruvian flavors in a beautiful setting!

Found this place walking and it didn’t disappoint! Best Peruvian rotisserie chicken I’ve had, and that’s saying something in the land of Astoria. I like white meat, it wasn’t dry in the least bit. Juicy, tender and full of flavor! Even the bones had seasoning. Anticucho Especial (Beef heart skewers) were good, not my favorite. The potatoes that come with the dish though were delicious. The sangria and margarita were so good and made well. The vibe of this place was nice and the bathroom was clean. Service was great, they checked in on us often to see if we needed anything. Will be coming back.

Delicious Peruvian food in Astoria. Their green sauce is so addicting! We’ve been here a few times now, as Don Pollo and now their new name DPAQ. Food: Delicious! Their chicken combos are delicious. We like their Tallarin Verde and Pescado a lo Macho. They have a big drink menu but we’ve never tried it. Many people in the restaurant get drinks and they look delicious though. Service: A little slow but we’re usually not on a time crunch so don’t notice it too much. Seems like people go and lounge for a while. While the food’s great, it’s a bit pricey for what it is so had to knock it a star. Otherwise definitely would recommend!

The food and service was great. We ordered the bistec encebollada and the mixed fried rice. Both were delicious. We loved the salsa music and the staff were super friendly. We’ll be back!

Had the quarter chicken lunch special with soup, $17 plus tax. You have a choice of either soup, salad, or a soda. I recommend the soup. It's a bowl instead of just a cup. The entree came with fried rice which was delicious. It had little pieces of onion and egg and a great stir fry flavor. The Green sauce was savory and herbaceous. The chicken was seasoned well. The fat under the skin was rendered nicely. They even give you a little cancha to start with. My server was Valeria and she was lovely. I highly recommend this place for lunch. Excellent food, wonderful service, all for a great value
